Introduction

This month, Stoke Park was lucky enough to be part of the celebrations for James Bond’s 50th birthday. To mark half a century since the iconic spy exploded onto our screens in Dr. No, we played host to Bond girls Britt Ekland, Tania Mallet and Eunice Grayson as well as memorable villain Jaws (Richard Kiel). As well as familiar faces, there were cars which will forever be remembered for their association with Bond. Some of you may have spotted Auric Goldfinger’s Rolls Royce Phantom, although this time it wasn’t chauffeured by Oddjob, and the Aston Martin DBS from Quantam of Solace. We are very proud of our history, particularly our long association with the glamourous world of 007, and loved being part of this special event.

Olympic fever still seems to be going strong and the games have inspired people to try new sports or renew their interest in old ones. Three sports to have received an especially big boost are tennis, golf (which will be added for the next games in 2016) and cycling. We are very proud of both our golf and tennis facilities and are always committed to improving these. We are currently working on a world class short game area, which we hope you will enjoy along with our existing facilities.

Club Night at Stoke Park

Club Night at Stoke Park is held every Wednesday evening in the Orangery between 6:00pm and 9:30pm. Booking is not necessary. Club Night costs £12.50 per person when payment is made by levy account (£13.89 otherwise).

These will be held at Turkey's premier golf destination, Cornelia Golf Resort and Spa. LADIES 2 Pair Shield – Congratulations to the Ladies, who won their last match in the 2 Pair Shield. This means that they topped the first division, winning the league and retaining their trophy. A fantastic achievement!

DATE for the Diary - This year's ladies' tennis festive lunch will be 12th December. Format will be the same as last year but more details will follow

COMMITTEE Vacancy - If you feel you would like to be more involved in the running of tennis at Stoke Park, we currently have a vacancy for an additional member of our tennis committee. Health News...

GOLF Performance Fitness - To help improve our golf game, we spend a fortune on clubs, balls and coaching. But we sometimes fail to take a look at improving the most important part of a golf swing…ourselves.

During a swing our body creates rotation and torque to strike the ball by using our body’s mobility, stability and co-ordination. It is not the club that generates the power to strike the golf ball over 200 yards down the fairway, it is you!

If you can improve your body’s power and mobility, you will directly improve on the distances you can hit the golf ball. Not only that, but if you build on your strength to stabilize the golf swing you will create a more consistent, accurate swing and keep yourself injury free.

Using the Titleist Performance Institute Movement Screen, we can assess the body bio-mechanically, which helps us determine the potential problems that are inhibiting your swing.

From this we will develop an exercise program designed around your specific needs and maximizing your time.

Creche Events

COFFEE Morning – On Wednesday, 10th October, all are welcome to enjoy coffee and company while the children play. Parents can also use this as an opportunity to get to know the Crèche’s staff and facilities better.

HALLOWEEN Party – On Wednesday, 31st October, the Crèche are holding a spooky Halloween party, held in normal Crèche hours between 10am and 12pm. Kids can dress up as their favourite character and enjoy arts and crafts, games and party food. This event costs £20 to attend.

We will also have Halloween themed activities during the whole week, from Monday, 29th through to the weekend.

BONFIRE Night – We will be enjoying a Bonfire Week at the Crèche, beginning on Monday, 5th November. There will be lots sparkle and glitter for the children to enjoy.

OCTOBER Half-term Golf and Tennis Camps - After the successful Summer Golf and Tennis Camps, the October Half-term camp is not far round the corner. It is a great way for children to come and enjoy two great sports and learn and have fun at the same time. The camp is due to run between the 23rd and 26th October and is limited to 16 places per day. It is made even more fun if children come along with people they know so please mention the camps to all your friends as well.
