Stoke Park’s tennis services are structured to provide tennis playing opportunities for all ages and abilities (beginners through to team playing members). The focus is to ensure a balanced programme that provides coaching tuition (group and individual), social club roll ups, competitive tennis (team and friendly team) and member play opportunities.
Stoke Park offers the best tennis facilities in the county with 3 indoor courts, 6 grass courts and 4 floodlit artificial clay courts (installed in March 2014). New for 2014 we now offer a junior tennis programme (for members and non-members), holiday camps and schools programme.
We have a fantastic LTA qualified coaching team and in February 2014 achieved LTA Clubmark Accreditation.
Clubmark was introduced by Sport England in 2002 and the LTA has been administering its own version based on national guidelines for best practice combined with real life examples of successfully run places to play across the country.
The Club Championships are played from 1st March to 23rd June. Open for all Tennis & Health Members and Overseas Members.
All matches are best of three tie-break sets (at 6-6). A new tube of balls to be used for each match with the cost shared between players. Any player not present within 20 minutes of the arranged time will forfeit the match. The person at the top of the draw is responsible for contacting their opponent to arrange the match. This must be done by email offering three different dates. If none of these dates is suitable, the match must be played on the final date for the round. All matches not played before the close of the round will be decided on the toss of a coin (if the above procedure has not been followed).
All courts must be booked through Spa Reception or Intelligent Golf (see pages 3 & 4). This can be done up to two weeks in advance for a maximum of one and a half hours per Member weekdays and one hour per Member at weekends.
On arrival at the Club, all Members are asked to check in at Spa Reception to register their attendance, confirm the court that they will be playing on and collect tokens for the court lighting if using the indoor or artificial clay courts. All guests must be signed in and a receipt obtained that should be carried at all times. A fee of £15 is chargeable for guests who are paying tennis only or £35 if other facilities are being used.
No Show Policy
We would ask all members to please be vigilant in cancelling any courts that have been booked but are no longer needed. As per our Club Rules, all courts should be cancelled at least 24 hours before they are due to be played in order that they can be offered to someone else.
In the first instance of a court not being cancelled, a warning letter will be sent to the Member in whose name the court was booked. If that Member fails to cancel a court for a second time, a £20 fine will be charged to their levy. Further court bookings will not be possible until this fine has been paid. In the event of any further courts not being cancelled, the Member will be excluded from booking courts for a period of one month.
We very much appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
Please make sure that play has finished before you enter the indoor courts or grass courts and always walk behind the court netting. Mobile phones are not permitted to be used on court and must be on silent. Children must be supervised at all times and noise on court kept to an appropriate level.
Throughout the year there are a number of other matches, not listed in this guide. They include midweek ladies charity leagues and social matches against other local clubs. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest in playing.
Tennis Racquet Re-String Service
Did you know you should change your strings as many times per year as the weeks you play? Prices start from £19. Please call 01753 717173 for details.
Artificial Clay Courts
We have four all weather floodlit courts that are available all year round and provide a slightly slower surface that allows you to concentrate on technique.
Entry to the all weather courts can be gained through the tennis garden located via the corridor opposite the San Marco Restaurant. You will need to keep your membership card on you in order to gain access back into the building. To exit into the car park, press the button to release the magnet on the gate. Tokens for the floodlights can be collected at reception.
Please note that during the holidays the all weather courts may have limited availability for the hosting of Junior Tennis Camps and combined Golf & Tennis Camps.
We provide three indoor carpet courts. To protect the surface, only recognised indoor tennis shoes may be used on this surface. Tokens for the lighting can be collected at reception.
The indoor courts will be closed on Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd June for the hosting of The Boodles Challenge.
Our six grass courts provide a fantastic opportunity to play on traditionally the fastest surface. They are normally available to play from May to September (weather permitting) and are open from 11:00am until sunset each day. Only recognised tennis clothing and shoes may be worn on the grass courts. Entry to the grass courts should be via the San Marco Terrace.
Please note that the grass courts will have restricted access from Friday 13th to Sunday 23rd June for The Boodles Challenge and will be closed Monday 24th – Friday 4th July for the hosting of the Sir Elton John and Katherine Jenkins Concerts.
For security reason we ask that all doors and gates are kept closed at all times. Please only use the correct entrance and exits off of court.
IG software is a fantastic online service that was launched in 2012 for Stoke Park’s Golf Members. IG enables Members to check tee off times online and book online, keep up to date with all the latest news, communicate with other members via email as well as the Golf Team communicating with members.
In 2014 we will see IG launched for Tennis & Health Members allowing them to top up their levy account and view a statement, book a tennis court, book treatments as well as checking the availability of specific therapists and much more.
