What shall I bring?
All members will be given a swipe card, which they will need to access the gym. A plastic drinks bottle and gym gloves are recommended to those lifting weights. Towels are provided.
What should I wear?
Wear light, breathable clothes that you can move freely in. We ask you to wear a top at all times, indoor non-marking shoes and no football or offensive shirts.
Do you provide towels?
Yes, we provide fresh, clean gym towels free of charge.
Do you have changing facilities?
Our spacious and luxurious changing rooms feature under-floor heating, Italian style marble showers, with products and towels provided. Secure lockers are also available.
Will someone help me get started when I get there?
Yes, all new members will go through a three-step induction process.
Do you offer Personal Training sessions?
Yes, our Trainers offer bespoke Personal Training sessions designed to help you achieve your goals quickly, safely and efficiently. All our Trainers are Level 3 qualified on the Register of Exercise Professionals.
What group classes do you offer?
We offer 21 different types of classes, ranging from high intensity Boxing Circuits to low impact Salsa, Yoga and Pilates. Sessions are led by our expert team, who will help you achieve your potential and support you all the way.
More Information On Studio Classes
I’ve never done group exercise before, can I just join in or do I have to book?
We know that starting your road to fitness is often very daunting. The majority of classes welcome beginners from all levels of fitness, and you can join in as much or as little as you like. All classes must be booked in advance through the health IG site before 11am or calling the Spa reception after 11.
Do I have to pay extra for group classes?
Unless stated otherwise all group classes are offered complimentary as part of your membership.
Which classes will help me lose weight?
To a varying degree, most of our classes will help in achieving weight loss. The higher energy classes such as Bodypump, Studio Cycling and Circuits will generally produce faster results.
Can you guarantee results?
We can guarantee that we will provide you with the best support, group classes, advice and facilities, but the hard work is down to you!
I like to listen to music when I exercise, are there any audio facilities?
Yes, all the cardio machines have built-in televisions with music channels to plug your head phones into.
Can I bring a friend on occasions?
Health Members will be able to introduce guests (one guest per visit) to use the gym and swimming pool and attend the fitness classes. Health guests who wish to use the gym and attend classes will be required to complete a full medical questionnaire prior to their initial visit. No individual guest may be introduced more than six times in total in any one membership year.
I have a health condition, can I still join?
Depending on the specific condition. We will sometimes recommend that you seek advice from your doctor before using the gym, but it is entirely down you to act on our advice. Stoke Park now operate with a Health Commitment Statement (HCS) for all members and Guests, which has replaced the Medical PAR-Q. The HSC will be on display in the gym for you to read.
Is the pool water safe and is it warm?
Yes, our swimming pool is heated and sanitised, with tightly managed chemical levels. The water is also tested for bacteria on a monthly basis by an independent company.
How old do I have to be to join?
Only over 16’s are allowed to join the gym.
